MARKETING THROUGH TESTING

MARKETING THROUGH TESTING

Many industries including heavy lifting, manufacturing and mining have stringent laws and Australian Standards that governs how equipment is tested, how often it is tested and when it should be taken out of service as either worn or damaged. These are laws that have saved lives from equipment failure.

An example to think about is towing equipment in a mine incline drift SHALL be subjected to magnetic particle examination every 12 months.

DO ALL COMPANIES COMPLY TO THESE TESTING RECOMMENDATION?

Next time you’re sitting at a set of lights near a “B” double semi-trailer, take a look at the towing hitch and ask “is this equipment tested at regular intervals”? The answer is NO.  There are no requirements or Australian Standards that require this equipment to be tested!!!!

RELIANCE HEXHAM DO!!

Reliance Hexham have several customers that supply equipment to industries that do not have testing criteria or Australian Standard to comply to, yet they still carry out testing.

You might ask, “why would you incur added costs if not a requirement?”

One of these customers is now a leading designer of high-end lighting. They started by manufacturing large-scale chandeliers that were installed into mansions in California USA. This particular customer wanted to proof load and destructive test their light mounts to document that the fittings could hold the weight of these lights. This allowed them to have evidence to back up their design.

Their success may not have been met if their design was not tested. This is due to the potential of a design failure that could cause injury.

A RECENT COMPANY WHO REQUESTED PRODUCT TESTING

Recently, another customer of ours who supplies 4WD recovery equipment wanted to back up their product with data and documentation that makes their product a point of difference to their competitors. They wanted to destroy some of their equipment to see if the results not only performed like it was designed to, but also have evidence that their competitors may not.

We tested one of their 17T WLL soft shackles and it achieved ultimate failure at 23T.

I know for certain, if I am buying something that says it can do the job, having proof it can go above and beyond is piece of mind!

Check out the video 17T soft shackle below.
