Jaw Dropping! or should we say Jaw Catching??
Here at Reliance Hexham, we can never be accused of not taking on a challenge. Our latest accomplishment was to carry out a dynamic test of a double decker man cage braking system.
Our latest video is of some recent testing that was carried out, on the request of a customer, to function test their emergency gripper braking system. As part of our refurbishment and annual testing of our customers cages, a function test will now be a part of the certification process! The concept of this gripper system of brakes, were designed and manufactured in 1845 and has been perfected over the years.

Throughout history (as seen in the extracts below), the lack of an effective braking system in double decker, and other cages, has resulted in life threatening accidents.

By conducting a function test during our annual tests on all cages, we are making sure that our customers and their employees are safe when travelling up and down the mine shaft.
